From February 26 to March 1, 2026, the global hunting and shooting sports industry gathered in Nuremberg, Germany for IWA OutdoorClassics 2026 — one of the world’s most influential trade shows for hunting gear, shooting optics and outdoor equipment.

Each year, IWA OutdoorClassics brings together leading optics manufacturers, distributors and hunting gear suppliers from around the world. More than just a product showcase, the exhibition provides a valuable opportunity for industry professionals to exchange ideas, explore cooperation opportunities and gain a deeper understanding of market developments.

For the NUTREK OPTICS team, conversations with European dealers and partners during the show provided particularly useful insight into regional hunting habits, equipment preferences and evolving optic requirements. These discussions helped us better understand how hunters and shooters are adapting to new technologies and changing field conditions across different markets.

Key Optics Trends Observed at IWA 2026

One of the most valuable aspects of attending IWA OutdoorClassics is the ability to observe emerging trends in optics and hunting equipment. Based on discussions with distributors and hunters at the show, several important developments stood out.

Hunting Remains the Core Market in Europe

Across many European countries, hunting continues to be the primary application for riflescopes. Because hunting often takes place during dawn, dusk or late evening hours, light transmission and image clarity remain essential considerations when selecting optics.
Traditionally, many hunters favored large-objective riflescopes such as 56 mm models to maximize light gathering. However, dealers noted that the growing availability of night vision and thermal devices is gradually changing this preference.
Today, more hunters are choosing 50 mm or even 44 mm objective riflescopes, which provide a good balance between brightness, portability and overall handling.

Practical Reticle Design for Hunting Riflescopes

Another common insight from European distributors is that hunters generally prefer simple and practical reticle designs.
For most hunting situations, Second Focal Plane (SFP) riflescopes are considered more than sufficient. Instead of complex ranging systems, hunters typically favor clean reticles that allow fast target acquisition and minimal visual distraction.
A frequently requested feature is a simple illuminated center point, which improves visibility in low-light environments without cluttering the sight picture. This approach reflects the practical needs of real hunting scenarios.

Application-Driven Preferences for Red Dot Sights

While red dot sights continue to gain popularity globally, their usage patterns vary depending on the region and shooting application.
According to feedback from European distributors, open-style red dot sights are mainly used for competition shooting and training. For field use, many shooters prefer enclosed red dot designs, which offer better protection from rain, dust and harsh outdoor conditions.
From both a usage scenario and firearm compatibility perspective, riflescopes and enclosed optics remain the preferred choice for many hunters and professional users.

Top Optics That Drew Attention at Our Booth

Several optics presented by NUTREK attracted particular interest from distributors and dealers visiting our booth at IWA OutdoorClassics 2026. These models reflect the growing demand for practical hunting optics and reliable shooting solutions.

ZIKKA Series – Compact open-style red dot sights designed for pistols and training platforms, offering lightweight construction and versatile mounting compatibility. The ZIKKA series can also be mounted at an offset position alongside a riflescope, allowing shooters to transition quickly to close-range targets.

GUARD Solar Power Enclosed Red Dot Sight - A rugged enclosed optic featuring solar power support, designed for reliability in demanding outdoor environments.

BLACKIRON 2.5-10x50 IR SFP Hunting Scope - A hunting-focused riflescope with a practical magnification range and a large objective lens optimized for low-light conditions.

SILVERMARK 1.7-10x40 SFP Hunting Scope - A versatile hunting riflescope featuring ED glass and a stable optical system, delivering excellent clarity and a premium viewing experience while maintaining practical handling for field use.

COPPERTAG 5–25×56 FFP Scope – A precision-oriented riflescope designed for long-range shooting, featuring first focal plane functionality and high magnification.

These optics demonstrate Nutrek’s commitment to delivering reliable shooting optics that balance performance, durability and accessibility.

Strengthening Global Partnerships

Beyond product showcases, IWA OutdoorClassics is ultimately about building long-term relationships within the industry.
Throughout the exhibition, the Nutrek team held productive discussions with distributors and retailers interested in expanding their optics portfolio. These conversations provided valuable insight into regional market needs and opened new opportunities for cooperation.

For optics manufacturers, maintaining close communication with dealers is essential to ensure that product development aligns with real market expectations.
